Pichavant 8m

The Pichavant 8m will be built by the Pichavant shipyards soon .The hull will be built in composite marine plywood - epoxy resin
and FRP sandwich for the block deck-roof-cockpit.

After designing the Kouign Amann,
here is a new boat much longer,
for a family program. The hull forms are simple, with 2 chines
 plus a keel chine.

The idea was to design a sort of new 'Armagnac" of the french well-known Philippe harlé.
She offers a big volume compared to her "model" because of her large beam 3,30m (10.8 ft).
We find 2 double berths and a good saloon with sea berths,
a chart table, and a galley. All is luminous with the panoramic roof,
which gives a headroom of 1,80m (6 ft)

On the deck, we find a good free movement with a long cockpit where you can lie down at full lenght.
Aft, an  opening transom create more space in the cockpit, and  when it is up, a god security for children.

Under the water, the first version of the boat is a draft of 1,40m (4,6 ft) with a simple bulbed keel for good stiffness.
Ther are 2 rudders, which will fit with the future center-boarded version.

About the rig and the sail area, it is classical, with shroods fitted just above transverse bulkheads.
About velocity, the pichavant 8m offers a displacement-lenght ratio of 157 in load conditions, and 127 in light conditions:
we are on a  cruiser-racer.
